The Wonder Years Is Coming Back As A Black Family Reports ABC

Written by

Adding to the list recently of some truly beloved movies or tv series from our childhood being recreated is The Wonder Years. However, this time they are adding one creative spark to the show.

ABC is currently in the process of getting together the pilot. Original show aired for a total of six seasons and it was set during the late 60s and early 70s. It is believed that the revive will take place during the same period as the original except it will feature a black family located in Montgomery, Ala.

It will be produced by none other than by Empire co-creator Lee Daniels. However the original show co-creator Neal Marlens will be on the side as a consultant for the show. Saladin K. Patterson (The Big Bang Theory) will be the leading show producer. Can not forget though that Savage is completely on board with the show and will be the director and executive producer. Even though it is a bit shocking to see him on board with how much he has always slammed any remakes with it without including the original cast. Seems his mind has changed?

The official description for the show: “How a black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama in the turbulent late 1960’s,the same era as the original series, made sure it was The Wonder Years for them too.”
